The Ashford Pride Town Team has been working very hard over the last Twelve months to promote Ashford town. They have held various events in the Town Square to bring the public into the town now they are taking this one step further with an open public meeting. This will be held at Ashford Community Centre on Monday 11th February from 7pm to 9pm. They hope that consulting the local community will come up views and ideas that can be taken forward to improve our town for everyone some of the ideas put forward so far are already being worked on like The Craft market to be held in the multi-storey car park on Saturday 20th April more information will be available shortly on the Ashford Pride website.
Things are changing within Ashford there are companies heavily investing in the town and landlords sprucing up empty premises with a view to re-let. Unfortunately a lot of businesses are finding it very hard in economic climate so to see new businesses opening can only be good for Ashford. I personally have heard people moaning that certain retailers are not to their liking but surely it is better to have shops occupied rather than empty.
Over the last couple of weeks there have been rumours that the Royal Hart pub in Church Road has been taken over and is going to become an antique centre offering a large selection from individual traders. This is something different that could bring more people into the town from a larger area and hopefully other traders will benefit. Many would have preferred that it re-opened as a traditional public house but these are on the decline throughout the country many falling into disrepair.
